Analysis of Common Housing Materials for Traffic Signal Lights
There are many factors that affect the service life of road Traffic Signal lights, among which the housing material and routine maintenance are key elements. To help everyone better understand the core structure of traffic signal lights, the manufacturer JKTRAFFICLIGHT provides a detailed explanation of their housing materials. Currently, common traffic signal light housing materials are mainly divided into the following four categories, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Selection can be made based on actual requirements.

- PC Material
This material features low mold cost, lightweight properties facilitating aerial installation work, and is among the lower-priced options. It offers superior safety advantages as it does not require additional lightning protection measures. Utilizing a one-time molding process, its assembly and installation procedures are convenient and efficient. If UV-resistant components are added to the PC raw material, the service life of the housing can be effectively extended, making it suitable for various conventional traffic signal light applications. - Die-cast Aluminum Material
This material is characterized by its rust-resistant nature and offers the best weather resistance among all types. It also employs a one-time molding process, ensuring convenient assembly and installation. Its service life is the longest among the four materials, with outstanding waterproof and dustproof performance. However, the mold cost for this material is relatively high, requiring additional lightning protection measures. Furthermore, its heavier weight increases the difficulty of aerial installation work. - Aluminum Profiles Material
This material has a lower mold cost, with a weight between die-cast aluminum and PC material. Its weather resistance is better than PC material but not as good as die-cast aluminum. The profiles can be freely cut, and cross-sectional dimensions are easily adjustable, making it very suitable for frame-type traffic signal lights. The drawback is that the corners of aluminum profiles require connection via PC material adapters, which compromises assembly convenience. Additionally, the numerous joints result in waterproofing performance inferior to that of PC and die-cast aluminum materials. - Sheet Metal Material
This material can meet personalized customization needs for traffic signal lights without the need for mold opening, but the overall cost is high. If the spraying process is inadequate, it is highly prone to rust, necessitating additional lightning protection measures. Waterproof and dustproof treatment is also challenging, leading to relatively higher routine maintenance costs.
JKTRAFFICLIGHT reminds that for the selection of traffic signal light housing materials, priority should be given to high-quality raw materials. This is key to ensuring the operational effectiveness of the signal lights, extending their service life, effectively reducing subsequent maintenance costs, and guaranteeing the stability of road traffic signal guidance.
